God Answers Prayers

Man Praying from StockXchng
I thought I would share a brief story about God answering prayers. I had recently applied to be the Director of Adult Religious Education at a parish in our area. I was convinced I was a great fit for the parish's needs and I was simply waiting to be called for an interview. A month went by and I hadn't heard a thing. Yesterday morning, I noticed they had reposted the position so I thought I would send an email to "keep my name out there." In the middle of the email, I stopped and blurted out loud, "Lord, do you really want me to do this?" Something came over me and I archived the email.

When I got home from work. A letter from the parish was waiting for me at home. It was a rejection letter. The funny thing is that I wasn't disappointed because I recognized the letter as an answer to my prayer.

I know in my case, I sometimes get ahead of myself and don't listen to God speaking to me through ordinary ways. Sometimes, when I least expect it, He gives me a little nudge. I didn't get the answer I wanted, but I got the answered I needed. God knows.

  2. God is good and loves us enough to give us this kind of love exactly when we need it. Thank you, Don, and I'd also like to comment on the posting about Pornography...I think it takes great courage to post these things, and to give links for help. Thank you for posting that, and for loving those who don't love themselves enough to be honest. This incidious addiction has reeked havoc on so many lives and it is important to have this awareness posted to all. Sandy L.

  3. Don, Your thoughts on prayer are an insightful reflection. It is important to keep our God antenna switched on at all times so we can receive whatever the message is God wants to send us to hear, not what we want to hear. But know this God will use you. God has a plan for you. May the lord Jesus continue to bless you.

  4. There's an old Garth Brooks song called 'Unanswered Prayers' that sums this up perfectly. My own unanswered prayer story: at the end of my sophomore year in college, I applied to be a resident advisor (RA) the following year. I didn't get it, and was really disappointed. But the next fall I was asked to be the news editor of the college newspaper, and the spring of my junior year I was tapped to be the editor in chief. There's no way I could have said yes to either if I was an RA. You gotta be patient - you'll get your answer.
